Department of Internal Affairs
The Department of Internal Affairs had a fairly simple request – expand and refit a computer room and fit out a vacant floor for the Passports team.
But a few complicating factors made it not quite the straightforward job it first appeared.
Firstly, the computer room had to be completed within a very short timeframe to meet the Department’s business continuity planning requirements.
Secondly, data services had to be maintained while the computer room was expanded and retrofitted and the only kitchen and staffroom facilities, both adjacent to the construction work area, had to remain accessible throughout.
So, with some careful planning, detailed programming and, in conjunction with the client, detailed consultation with all stakeholders, we came up with a project plan that met everyone’s objectives with minimal disruption.
With that in place, the contractors could start work, and we had the computer room completed ten weeks later. With that done, we could move on to the fit-out.
The Building Intelligence Group took full responsibility for the turnkey approach required, in partnership with the contractors. This included specialist security, IT infrastructure and HVAC design & implementation packages.
