Construction starts on Supreme Court Nov 26, 2007

The Ministry of Justice has signed a $54.8 million contract with Mainzeal Construction for the construction and restoration of the Supreme Court complex on Lambton Quay.

The contract, which is within budget, provides for completion of the complex including the full restoration of the historic court building on the site by late 2009.

The Building Intelligence Group project director Ian Macaskill says the project is an opportunity to create something that’s not only an iconic heritage building, but probably the most important public building being constructed in New Zealand at present. The building also uses best practice in heat and light efficiency.
