Dress Smart Wellington
The Dress Smart development in Wellington is a converted warehouse, now housing 35 separate retail outlet stores.
This destination retailing concept was a first for Wellington, following the successful establishment of the Dressmart concept in Auckland.
We were approached by the developer to undertake reconstruction of the existing 5000m2 warehouse and to build a 5000m2 extension.
Our role involved responsibility for design control, procurement and GMP negotiation, cost control programming and overall management of the construction project and all tenancy fit-outs.
After identifying our preferred contractor, we completed a GMP negotiation, which helped streamline the project and keep costs down for all involved. This initiative proved to be highly beneficial, not only for the client but also for the contractor, who was able to quickly advance the works following any design clarification without the delays often associated with debate over variation determination and valuation.
With windy Wellington living up to its name, we faced some weather delays but delivered the project on time, and have gone on to manage two further smaller projects for the developer at the same site.
