Defence Force Headquarters
The fitout of the new NZ Defence Force headquarters was one of the largest projects of its kind in New Zealand – 18,000m2 of building space to be completely fitted out.
The Building Intelligence Group was engaged to complete the fitout of all the tenancies in the building.
We were brought into the project at a later stage than usual, after a building site had been finalised, preliminary budgets prepared and with the concept design nearing completion.
Our first task was to put together an achievable overall coordination programme, bringing previously agreed development agreement dates into line with forecasted base building and in-ceiling services design, hard fitout design, procurement and staged construction time frames.
The hard fitout was carried out in eight separate stages of approximately 12 weeks each, and included coordination with separate contractors responsible for IT and Security services as well as the base building contractor commissioning the building services.
The project was completed on schedule and within budget, with the building ready for NZ Defence to commence occupation in early February 2007.
