David Mann

David’s experience is extensive including on-site construction management, corporate property management and project management consultancy.

Since establishing The Building Intelligence Group over 20 years ago, David has initiated and completed literally hundreds of projects across every sector of the industry, developing a very successful track record for meeting project deliverables.

David's focus is on ensuring that The Building Intelligence Group provides the highest quality services and delivers on its brand values.  This includes mentoring staff and championing the need for excellence, and ensuring that our systems are continually upgraded and fine-tuned.  He is also one of our key go to people for advice on complex technical and contractual issues.

David is an expert in methodologies for scoping and integrating Landlord and Tenant construction works and he has considerable skill in representing a Tenant's interest to ensure that Landlords deliver against agreed quality benchmarks and programme milestones.  This requires a detailed understanding of acceptable building performance standards and commercial agreements; also the ability to think laterally to explore solutions acceptable to both parties and, most importantly, still protect his client’s interests.  David also has an expert understanding of contracts and contract administration.

David has very strong project establishment skills and can quickly identify the key project issues and constraints and focus the project team. His experience enables him to challenge the process and develop project solutions in a constructive and supportive manner. This helps all participants, including the client, explore options until the most appropriate design and programme solutions are derived within agreed cost parameters.

David is the Managing Director and major shareholder of The Building Intelligence Group. If you would like to get in touch with David, you can email d.mann@tbig.co.nz. or call 021 436 829.

Ian Macaskill

Ian has acquired considerable experience in the Project Management field including design and construction management, cost estimating, programming, feasibility assessments and pre-purchase due diligence.

But there are three areas that he has made his own with a specialist expertise. The first is Bar and Restaurant fit-out. Specific experience in this area includes project management for the Ministry of Culture and Heritage for the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior and for the Ministry of Justice on the Supreme Court projects at the Old Government Building and the Old High Court Building.

Ian’s strengths lie in his ability to manage a team-based approach to the project delivery and to promote an environment that fosters performance from the project participants and maintain a focus on achieving the projects objectives. His contracting background also provides him with excellent skills with which to assess design, identify alternatives and to work effectively with the construction team.
